Project Overview:

Tailwind Ventures (formerly Tailwind Associates) partnered with Ali & Able and Swank Collective to create a fresh brand identity and new digital experience. The primary objective was to position Tailwind as a reliable financial advisory partner while introducing the innovative concept of 'the Venture Development Bank'. This project aimed to address the challenges faced by startups and scale-up ventures, as well as investors seeking a trustworthy partner to assess new ventures and provide comprehensive due diligence for informed investment decisions - all with an ever-so-subtle aviation theme weaved into the creative execution, language, and messaging.

Project Details:

Under the Tailwind Ventures umbrella are a series of service products that include:

FlightPlan: A comprehensive preparedness program for ventures that’s backed by experts and powered by technology to prepare them for the scrutiny of investors. 

PaperPlane Projects: Coined as the chosen alumni for FlightPlan and hand selected by the Tailwind team to be endorsed and marketed to their investment community. 

The Aviator Program: A mentoring program designed to match established entrepreneurs and successful business leaders with new founders from Tailwinds PaperPlane Projects stream. 

All three ‘products’ have their own unique identities under the FlightPlan master brand umbrella.

To ensure brand consistency, we focused on visually conveying Tailwind's brand values of trust, professionalism, diligence, and dynamism to create a cohesive visual identity that would resonate with Tailwind's target audience. We created a new logo for Tailwind and its product portfolio, along with a comprehensive set of brand guidelines that cover everything from pitch deck templates to team photography, brand messaging, and more. The look and feel is bright and vibrant and the language is confident and friendly. 

The execution across the first set of deliverables is helping Tailwind carve out a niche for itself as a dynamic player in the competitive Canadian and global marketplace for capital.  

Ali & Able and Swank Collective have launched the first phase of an elevated web solution that introduces the new proposition to ventures and investors. At this stage, the site aims to onboard potential new ventures into the FlightPlan program and invite potential investors into the network. 

The next stage will include building out a full web application to take ventures through the FlightPlan program as a Saas business model with the help of human advisors. The resulting output from the curriculum will then be showcased as an interactive dashboard for investors to truly ‘look under the hood’ of potential investment opportunities.
